The Athletic Director provides administrative leadership in planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs for our students. The Athletic Director will serve as the direct connection between Cornerstone Education Group and their school. Cornerstone Education Group Athletic Directors need to promote skills development, understanding of sports, and appreciation for a variety of athletic activities, programs, character, and sportsmanship for students and adults. Athletic Directors should also emphasize the importance of skill development and learning along with healthy competition, good sportsmanship and the importance of academics in relationship to athletics. The AD should be professional at all times by positively representing Cornerstone Education Group.

Qualifications:

● Proof of a minimum of an Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (evidence of 120 hours of current credits)

● Applicants must provide evidence of experience in high school and/or college sports, in the area of the applicable position. Must have at least three (3) years of previous leadership in athletics

● Must have knowledge of athletic procedures and MHSAA rules

● Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required

● Pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities:

● Create schedules, collect dues, document team records, and other documents that pertain to the MHSAA

● Follow all school rules and regulations according to district and athletics code of conduct

● Communicate and enforce that all school athletes will be supervised at all times

● Implement district attendance, behavior, and tardy consequence guidelines and district student academic eligibility guidelines.

● Consult with school administration in resolving student athlete problems and issues.

● Prepare reports as required by the Network Athletic and Fitness Director.

● Work with the school administration, community organizations, and state athletic directors to improve and promote the athletic program

● Report, document, and file all athletic injuries per district protocols

● Verify that all participants have a physical examination, proper permission forms, before the first practice per school athletic handbook

● Check student eligibility per MHSAA and athletic code of conduct

● Plan, supervise, and attend recognition programs for school athletes

● Consult with school administration on the monthly athletic calendar

● Supervise on-site athletic activities and perform athletic-related administrative duties

during the months of June, July, and August as needed.

● Coordinate the use of district facilities and fields to meet the needs of the middle school, high school, and community.

● Hold pre-season meetings with coaches to best meet the needs of each team

● Inspect fields and facilities and recommend repair or maintenance in a timely manner prior to events

Other Functions:

● Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance

● Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or other appropriate administrator
